The Lowy Group story so far
In 1972, when Group Chairman and founder, Peter Lowy, purchased the Vienna Hotel in London’s Maida Vale, the first seeds of the original Vienna Group were sown. Now, almost forty five years later, the single hotel operation has developed into a major hotel and leisure group with an enviable hotels portfolio and specialist travel services division. In 2009 the Group took on a new corporate identity, reflecting its history and its more diverse business activities.
Hotels
The Lowy Group, as it is now known, developed its core hotel base in the UK’s Capital with the acquisition of Umi London, Bayswater and the Burns Hotel, Earls Court. In 2000, its first foray outside London resulted in the Group purchase of the Kings Hotel in the popular southern coastal resort of Brighton. In the four years following, the business added the equally impressive seafront Queens, Umi Brighton and Best Western Brighton Hotels to establish itself as one of the most prominent hotel operators in a leading British holiday destination.
Living Rooms
Living Rooms was founded by the Group in the mid-90s, with a desire to meet the needs of the modern traveller, offering a hotel alternative that combines the luxury and services of a hotel with the privacy and space of a home.
AES & Access Accommodation
AES and Access Accommodation, reflect the Group’s diversification and its broad experience of the provision of travel, academic support and specialist accommodation services. As the name suggests, AES provides American university groups with accommodation and academic support during their semester programmes in the UK from their Study Centre based in Bloomsbury, London. Access Accommodation is a housing provider for the growing number of language schools. Both are equipped to provide the education sector and youth markets with a varied choice of affordable accommodation in London, reflecting the quality and standards of the Lowy Group’s hotel and apartment businesses.
